Silverstone Building Consultancy celebrates 15 years

National building surveyors, Silverstone Building Consultancy is celebrating 15 years in business - having grown from one office to three, two employees to 15, and more than tripling its annual order book.

Founding director, Richard Farrey, left King Sturge (now Jones Lang LaSalle) in 2009 to set up the business in a small office on Dean Street in Newcastle. Having expanded the North East England operation, the team moved to a four-floor office on Grey Street and launched a further two offices in Leeds and London.

The firm started off predominantly doing building surveys at industrial and office properties but has since significantly grown its project management service and become specialists in the construction of new-builds, extensions and refurbishments in the hotel, education, manufacturing and public sectors.

Directors Richard Farrey, Phil Bone, Ben Rennocks and Paul Wharton have their sights on further growth, including establishing an office in Manchester.

Richard Farrey, director at Silverstone Building Consultancy, said: “We’ve project managed the construction and refurbishment of some fantastic buildings and provided lots of valuable, expert advice related to acquisition surveys, dilapidations, defects and planned maintenance over the last 15 years. It’s easy to get your head stuck in the day-to-day so it’s satisfying to look back and reflect on just how much we have to be proud of.

“We’ve had our challenges like any other business but ensuring we recruit and retain the best surveyors, continually develop our people and learn from best practice has ensured we’ve built a solid reputation for quality and delivery.”

Silverstone’s clients include Hitachi, British Land, Leopard Capital, Glenbrook, Harworth Group Plc, Leeds Bradford Airport, The Inn Collection Group, Homes England, Motorpoint, Womble Bond Dickinson and a number of education trusts.

Ben Rennocks, director and head of Silverstone’s Leeds office, adds: “We launched our Leeds office in 2018 and it’s going from strength to strength as our reputation grows. We offer a range of professional building surveying, project monitoring and specialist project management to a wide range of clients.”
